Vada Pav


         
Last week only I prepare vada pav and my friends loved it so much, so I thought to share. I had prepare it earlier also but this time it tastes awesome.


RECIPE:

Cooking Time: 10-15 mins
Preparation Time: 15-20 mins
Serve: 4


Ingredients:

Pav: 4-6

For Vada:

Potato: 4-5  medium(boiled peeled and mashed)
Garlic green chilli paste: 1 tsp
Mustard seed: 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves: 3-4 nos
Turmeric pwd: 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida: a pinch
Lemon Juice: 1 tsp
Coriander leaves: 2 tbsp(finely chopped)
Salt to taste
Oil

For Batter:

Gram flour(basen): 1 cup
Turmeric pwd: 1/4 tsp
Baking powder: a pinch
salt to taste

For Red Chutney:

Dry coconut: 3 tbsp(grated)
Chilli pwd: 1tsp
Garlic: 4-5 cloves
Oil: 1 tbsp


Method:


  1. Heat 1 tsp oil in pan/kadai and add the mustard seed, when it splutter add asafoetida, curry leaves,turmeric pwd and mashed potato and mix well.
  2. Add coriander leaves, salt and lemon juice and mix well.
  3. Divide the potato mixture in equal size ball and keep aside.
  4. Mix the gram flour, baking pwd, turmeric pwd and salt in a bowl. Add water to make a coating consistency  batter(thick batter).
  5. Heat sufficient oil in kadai/pan. Dip potato ball in batter and dip fry in hot oil till golden brown in color.
  6. Slit the pav horizontally without slitting the edge, spread red chutney on the inner side of pav and place the vada.
For Red Chutney:

  1. Grind coconut, chilli pwd and garlic in mixer.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil in the pan and saute the mixture for 1-2 min.
  3. Add salt and mix well.
