Few month back when I was looking for some breakfast recipes I come across rava idli recipe. As i love idli, I thought to give a try. When I prepare it, I was completely in love with Rava Idli. Now it is one of the breakfast item at my home.
RECIPE:
Cooking Time: 10-12 mins
Preparation time: 10-15 mins
Ingredients:
Rava/sooji: 1 cup
Carrot: 1 medium( grated)
Fruit salt: 1 tsp
Yogurt/curd: 1/2 cup
Water: i/2 cup or as needed
Coriander leaves: 1 tbsp( finely chopped)
Mustard seed: 1 tsp
Chana/gram dal: 3/4 tsp
Green chilli: 1/2 tsp(finely chopped)
Curry leaves: 2-4 (optional)
Salt to taste
Ghee/oil: 2 tbsp

Green chilli: 1/2 tsp(finely chopped)
Curry leaves: 2-4 (optional)

Ghee/oil: 2 tbsp
Method:
- Heat ghee/oil and add the mustard seeds,when they splutter, add the chana dal and saute till the dal turns golden brown. Add chopped green chillis and curry leaves.
- Add the rava and stir fry for 2-3 mins on medium heat. Keep aside and cool.
- Add grated carrot, coriander leaves, curd, water and salt and mix well.
- Add fruit salt and mix well.
- Grease idli plates and pour the rava batter.
- Steam the ravva idlis on medium flame for around 10-12 mins.
- Serve hot with chutney of your choice.
Note:
Add fruit salt just before pouring batter into idli plates. Do not let it rest, otherwise idli will not turn out soft.
